The last of the three molars on each side of the jaw are your wisdom teeth. They are the most likely teeth to have problems and cavities because :

They are difficult to clean as they are right at the back and the brush doesnt reach there
They are the last erupt so come out in awkwards positions due to lack of space leading to pain and infection
They push the other teeth ahead as they erupt leading to crowding of teeth specially in the lower jaw.

Problematic wisdom teeth are normally advised extraction. Oral surgeons are specialist who are experts in removal of wisdom teeth in no time. Most wisdom are removed within a few minutes as they require no major surgical procedures.

Sometimes in few cases they may require a surgical removal. In those cases the area will be thoroughly numbed first, and then a tiny incision made to open the gum tissue. If essential, we will remove any bone that is covering the tooth. We will then get the tooth out with dental forceps gently. Some wisdom teeth must be cut into shorter pieces, and stitches may be required. With a skilled surgeon in our team, this procedure is absolutely painless and quick.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR AN IMPACTED WISDOM TOOTH TO HEAL?

It can take a week or two to heal from the extraction of an impacted wisdom tooth, depending on your age and the level of impaction. Most of our patients are able to return to work, school, and day-to-day activities on the very next day of the surgical procedure.
